How FlexBooks Uses the QuickBooks Class and Location Fields
FlexBooks takes your Mindbody location name and writes it into two fields in QuickBooks Online: the Class field and the Location field. Both carry exactly the name the location has in Mindbody. This happens automatically, and there is nothing for you to map or set up.
What lands where

That difference is QuickBooks’ own design: a Class can sit on each line of a transaction, while a Location applies to the whole transaction.
You do not need to create either one. The first time FlexBooks syncs a sale from a location, it creates the matching Class and Location in QuickBooks for you.
Your Online Store
Mindbody records online sales against a location called Online Store, so you will see an Online Store class and location in QuickBooks alongside your studio. It behaves exactly like any other location.
If you would rather use the Class field yourself
Write to support@flexbooks.io and we will stop writing classes on your account. After that:
- FlexBooks stops creating classes and stops putting one on any transaction, so the field is yours to use however you like.
- The Location field carries on as normal, so you keep your reporting by location.
- Transactions already in QuickBooks keep the class they have. The change applies to everything synced from then on.
Renaming a class or location
The names come from Mindbody, so that is where to change them. Rename the location in Mindbody and everything synced from that point on carries the new name.
That does not go back and change transactions already in QuickBooks. To bring those along too, rename the Class in QuickBooks under Settings, then All Lists, then Classes, and the Location under All Lists, then Locations. QuickBooks applies the new name to every transaction already carrying it.
Keep the Mindbody name and the QuickBooks name identical. If they stop matching, FlexBooks will create a second Class and Location on the next sync.
What you need in QuickBooks
Class tracking and Location tracking are both features of QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced. Neither is included in Simple Start or Essentials.
If you are on Plus or Advanced and cannot see them, switch them on under Settings, then Account and settings, then Advanced, then Categories.
